BEWARE ! Scammers utilizing Federal Court's name to trap casualties

The Federal Court chief registrar’s office says a syndicate is utilizing its name to trick individuals into exchanging their advantages.

Chief registrar Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar said con artists utilized the court's letterhead with the emblem and stamp before sending the phony reports through email and WhatsApp.

She said they even made arbitrary calls to casualties, asserting they were from the pinnacle court.

"In the letter sent to the casualties, the con artists guaranteed the court had issued a warrant of capture and a request to solidify the casualties' benefits under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989 and Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"They divulged the casualties to keep it a mystery so as not to meddle with police examinations, and to exchange their resources for the National Audit Department to demonstrate their blamelessness," Latifah told a public interview yesterday.

She said the court distinguished the most recent trick on March 5 this year.

She said the con artists would parody the court's general line number by telling the casualties that they owed cash and should have been available in court, falling flat which the court would issue a warrant of capture.

"The casualties were additionally advised to exchange their cash to an outsider," she included.

The con artists utilized a fake letterhead titled "In the Federal Court of Malaysia" carrying the signature of Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif.

Latifah said eight police reports had been held up by legitimate partner Dora Anak Undau in Kuching for utilizing her name in the fake documents, with another lodged by the the Federal Court chief registrar office.
